Becket Tavern: Reviews & Ratings
This place it warm and inviting. The bartender, waiter, and busser were all kind and extremely attentive. We’ve come here twice and the food and service quality has been excellent both times.
Recently reopened after six months clothes, with new management (hence the lack of reviews). Rock solid choice on the main strip with a hole-in-the-wall feel but a good amount of seating. We 2 people) came in at 6pm on Saturday of President’s Day weekend, when every other place had a 20+ min wait, and were seated immediately. The selection is a bit limited, both in beer and food, but the choices are solid and should cover most tastes. Service was pretty quick, although they definitely were pushing their limits. Everyone was super friendly though. Tables aren’t assigned, so we ended up getting service from everyone on duty at some point in the night, and they were all very friendly and attentive, especially considering the busy night. The live music wasn’t too loud, and pretty chill. It was mostly classic (60’s/early 70’s) rock and some country. Food was a winner. The wings were some of the best either of us have ever had. Not sure how they make them, but they’re awesome. We ordered them straight, so there was no sauce (just the way I like them). The darker bbq sauce on the table was *amazing* with them. The second order was the beef ribs, and it was a winner with a weird miss. The ribs were great (again, dry rub, no sauce), but had a few cold spots for some reason. I’ve never gotten ribs with cold spots, especially not when they’re sizzling hot on the outside. I wonder whether they smoke them, throw them in the fridge, and then heat them up in the oven. Either way, the ribs were full of flavor, delicious, and great with the sauce we used on the wings. Sides were cool, but nothing to write home about. I wasn’t a fan of the slaw, but I don’t like apples. If you’re an apple slaw fan, you’ll be very happy. The fries were solid, and made a great base for more of that killer bbq sauce. We both had a Pilsner on tap, so I can’t speak to the mixed drinks, but this is a bbq joint. Drink beer. Don’t overthink it. The tap selection is relatively, but solid, and you’re very likely to find something you like unless you’re obsessed with wheat beers (there aren’t any here). All in all, a winner, at prices that match or beat anything you’re likely to find in tourist central. 100% would do it again, just for the wings and bbq sauce.
No this gem of a place is NOT closed! Yes, they are under new management since November 2023. And thankfully they are totally dialed in with some of the most delicious BBQ we have ever enjoyed - smoked & slow cooked right on the premises. We had the full rack of baby back pork ribs - which could have served 3 hungry adults - and also demolished the beef ribs. Don’t wait to get over there!
Overall good spot to grab a bite to eat. The items that we really enjoyed were the Tavern twinkies, chicken wings and ribs. They had live music which is always a great add when dining in Tahoe.
Dan our waiter was great! We came out to Tahoe to get married and when we told him he offered us free apple pie. The food was amazing and my husband loved the wings! Highly recommend!

Since reopening under new management in late 2023, Becket Tavern has steadily built a loyal following, and it’s easy to see why. The staff embodies genuine hospitality—bustling yet attentive, they create an experience that feels personal no matter how busy the night. Their live music, featuring laid-back classic rock and country, adds a pleasant soundtrack without overpowering conversation.
The menu, though intentionally focused, delivers top-tier smoked meats that are the real stars here. The chicken wings are legendary—crispy with an impeccable dry rub, served straight up or with their exceptional dark BBQ sauce that elevates every bite. The beef ribs echo a similar depth of flavor, rich with smoky notes and slow-cooked tenderness, though some subtle inconsistencies in temperature hint at the care involved in their preparation.
Sides lean on simplicity, offering solid accompaniments like fries that serve as a perfect base for the BBQ sauce, while the apple slaw caters well to those fond of a tangy, fresh contrast. Drinks remain true to the BBQ joint’s soul—craft Pilsners on tap complement the meal perfectly, encouraging diners to embrace the unpretentious, hearty fare.
What truly elevates Becket Tavern is its balance of vibe and value. It’s a hidden gem with a hole-in-the-wall charm that manages to outshine more tourist-trapped neighbors. The generous portions, especially the full racks of baby back pork ribs, satisfy hungry appetites without breaking the bank.
